Under HIPAA regulations, Excelas is considered a business associate. Being entrusted with your resident and patient medical records, whether electronic or on paper, we make compliance with HIPAA regulations our highest priority. Excelas abides by all current HIPAA regulations, and strives to anticipate regulations that may be coming down the road.
Our roadmap to compliance begins with periodic HIPAA training for all staff, as well as routine risk assessments and formal privacy and security policies. As required by HIPAA regulations, we have an appointed privacy officer, who holds an MHA degree and manages our compliance assessments. Under her guidance, Excelas has not only met all HHS requirements, but we’re also implementing many HHS recommendations for business associates.
Excelas maintains rigorous procedures for the handling of medical records—from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave our office, and every point in between. Want to know more about how we maintain compliance? Just ask us. After all, they are your records; you need to know they’re being handled with the most stringent regard for security.
