Excelas Presenting at the Ohio Health Care Association
Annual Conference and Exposition
Excelas has been selected to present “Documentation: The story of the Resident” at the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) Annual Conference on May 5, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio. This is the second year that Excelas has been asked to speak at this large conference, which attracts over 2000 attendees from all professional disciplines in long term care from across Ohio and neighboring states.

The 1 hour presentation will explore how to deconstruct a medical record from an analyst’s perspective and develop risk management strategies to avoid possible legal exposure.

Excelas on DRI Steering Committee
Jean Bourgeois, President of Excelas, MBA, RHIA and Sara Pakrashi, Esq., Director, Business Development, are serving as members of the DRI Steering Committee for
the Nursing Home/ALF Litigation Seminar to be held on September 23–24, 2010 at the Swissôtel in Chicago, IL.

During this two-day conference, more than a half dozen speakers, including attorneys and medical experts, will speak on current and emerging issues of long term care defense, including challenges arising from recent changes in Federal law.

Excelas Presents…
Jean Bourgeois, President of Excelas, LLC was invited by the Long-Term Care Risk/Legal Committee to present information about how the firm helps long-term care legal and risk professionals maximize their investment in medical record reviews.

"Getting the Most Out of Your Medical Record Reviews," was presented to members at a Committee Meeting on January 30, 2009 in Las Vegas. Jean discussed strategies for medical record review and medical information management at different stages of the claim and litigation cycle. To illustrate, she shared stories about how Excelas' clients have successfully managed the complex and voluminous records that are presented, particularly in long-term care claims and litigation.

Jean discussed claims management and the importance of setting risk assessment goals early in the process. Record organization was covered followed by a demonstration of Zaxas, a proprietary document viewing technology developed by Excelas. The presentation included case studies, results and client benefits.
