We are setting the standard of what client service means in our industry by building a reputation for responsiveness, timeliness, flexibility, and the ability to handle complex requests.
The Key to our success to date has been our staff’s continued professional development. Excelas invites professionals from all disciplines of its core business to educate our team on issues in long term and acute care. We believe these programs improve our understanding of our clients and the firms that support them. For example, the Company has offered the following educational opportunities:
- A Scholarly Writing Workshop
- A Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Update
- A workshop on the intricacies of MDS and RAP requirements within LTC facilities
We look forward to holding future in house programs including an upcoming
in-service on the courtroom experience of a health care litigator.
In addition to our in house educational program, all of our professionals participate in continuing education programs to maintain their professional credentials.

Excelas Presents…
Jean Bourgeois, President of Excelas, LLC was invited by the Long-Term Care Risk/Legal Committee to present information about how the firm helps long-term care legal and risk professionals maximize their investment in medical record reviews.
"Getting the Most Out of Your Medical Record Reviews," was presented to members at a Committee Meeting on January 30, 2009 in Las Vegas. Jean discussed strategies for medical record review and medical information management at different stages of the claim and litigation cycle. To illustrate, she shared stories about how Excelas' clients have successfully managed the complex and voluminous records that are presented, particularly in long-term care claims and litigation.
Jean discussed claims management and the importance of setting risk assessment goals early in the process. Record organization was covered followed by a demonstration of Zaxas, a proprietary document viewing technology developed by Excelas. The presentation included case studies, results and client benefits.
